Extravaganza History
EXTRAVAGANZA 1
Of course Extravaganza 1 was memorable not only because it was our first "PPV" but also because it had some novel matches. It contained an intergender match, a HaRdCoRe Rulz match (which one might say was a precursor to the HaRdCoRe Title), a match featuring the referee (he would later become known as Pimpin' Paul and ultimately P.A.B. of the Acronyms), a Dance of Death (a type of match special to the T.W.O. which would not be attempted again until Payback 3 almost 5 years later) and our first triangle match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
In the weeks leading up to Extravaganza 1, three men claimed ownership to the World Title. They included Cadavor (recognized by T.W.O. Entertainment), Paramecium (the man Cadavor defeated in controversial fashion months earlier) and Scott Thunder (the man who was stripped of the belt a year before). Since they all claimed to be World Champions they were put in the first ever triangle match at Extravaganza 1 to create an undisputed World Heavyweight Champion. Scott Thunder came out victorious that night but only after Paramecium was busted open with what would become known as the infamous "Glass Shot".
EXTRAVAGANZA 2
With a much larger roster, T.W.O. Entertainment was able to put on more matches at Extravaganza 2 (1999). In the main event, World Champion Mr. Malicious dropped the title to Scott Thunder (now a three-time champion).
Also that night, Pimpin' Paul passed on his "Pimphood" to Arabian Rainman (now the Arabian Pimpman) and changed his name to P.A.B. Following Thunder's World Title victory, P.A.B. and newcomer S.P.B. formed a trio with Scott "T.G.B." Thunder calling themselves the Acronyms. Though the group would change over the next few years, it would become the longest running and most successful faction in T.W.O. history.
This was also the night that fans hoped to see a confrontation between Women's Champion Angelica Acid and No. 1 Contender Natalya "the She-Devil". Instead, Natalya received a package in the mail. She opened it to find the Women's Title and a note saying that Acid was forfeiting the title.
Lightheavyweight Champion 'Cunning' Chris defended his belt in the first "Triangle Ladder Match" and several other matches were contested.
EXTRAVAGANZA 3
This was the first Extravaganza to have all 5 championships contested including the HaRdCoRe, Women's and Tag Team Belts. 4 out of the five belts changed hands.
Paramecium defeated Kamikaze after being LIT ON FIRE to regain the World Title.
Natalya def. Jade for the Women's Title.
The Hell's Faction reached their prime when Sinsyde, Spaz & Arachnid won the Tag Team Championships.
Armand (aka. Jason Rinard) defeated Lightheavyweight Champ Allen Vector in Rinard's last match with the T.W.O. before his tragic passing.
The only champion to retain his gold was HaRdCoRe Champion Stratus who defeated Arachnid in a hellacious match.
Dellico (D.M.S.) finally became a permanent member of the Acronyms.
And it was also the sight of the T.W.O.'s first ever Gun-In-The-Tree Match between Wrestling Enforcer and Army Dude. The match would go on to be part of the "Best of Backyard Wrestling" tape series.
EXTRAVAGANZA 4
Not only did X-4 (2002) hold title defenses for all the 5 belts contested at X-3 it also contained a title defense for the new Jobber Championship. Not only that but the HaRdCoRe Championship was contested twice and changed hands both times!
X-4 was also the first Extravaganza to have matches from 3 different locations. Not only the regular matches held at the T.W.O. Arena, but also a Ping-Pong Match and a Trampoline Match.
Years after X-1, X-4 contested the World Title again in a triangle match. At X-1 Thunder pinned Cadavor to win the belt. At X-4 Cadavor pinned Thunder to win the belt. Meanwhile, the World Champion (Stratus) was handcuffed to the fence unable to decide the fate of his title.
X-4 also featured the finals of the first ever 16 Team Tag Title Tournament as "The Main Event" Paramecium & Scott Thunder defeated "The Crazy Bastards" Spaz & Kamikaze to regain the belts.
4 new wrestlers made their debut at X-4 including The Druid, John Cynic and the Trash Wrassla's and an impressive 10 matches took place.
EXTRAVAGANZA 5
Extravaganza 5 (2004) was the T.W.O.'s final event.
It was also the night when both brands of T.W.O. Entertainment, Paramecium's Dangerzone brand and Scott Thunder's ICON TV brand went head-to-head.
13 matches (the most of any Extravaganza) were held including:
P.A.B. defeating Wrestling Enforcer in the first ever Ceiling Tile / Restraint Match
Raging Randy defeating Rain in the Rain's Den.
Narc retiring the Jobber Championship after losing to his mystery opponent the Cameraman.
Missy Maniac defeating 'Cunning' Chris for the Lightheavyweight Championship. Being the first woman to hold the Lightheavyweight belt and retiring both the Lightheavyweight and Women's Championships.
Cadavor returning to action against doctors orders w/ a broken neck to defeat The Druid.
Allen Vector defeating 6 challengers in a HaRdCoRe War to retire the HaRdCoRe Championship as it's longest reigning champion.
And the mega-main event as Paramecium & Scott Thunder stepped in the ring to decide the fate of the World Heavyweight Championship, to once-and-for-all decide a winner in their feud, and to find out which brand would come out on top.
In this best 2-of-3 falls contest, Paramecium won the first fall (pinfall) and Scott Thunder won the second 2 falls (submission & TKO) but only after busting Paramecium open, powerbombing him on a barbed wire table and knocking him out with a Wrestlemania chair!!!
By winning the match, Scott Thunder had defeated the T.W.O. CEO to retire the Title (a belt he's held a record four times) and cause ICON TV to be declared the premium brand in all of backyard wrestling.
All this and more at Extravaganza 5, the biggest event in the history of backyard wrestling!
